First Impression and Mini Review: Rose & Co. Beauty Salve Collection

So I popped into my local Marshall's the other day to see what kinds of beauty products were available. You can find some makeup, skincare and hair products at prices much cheaper than retail. I used to think some of the products were discontinued or slightly damaged. But lately there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why you can find certain products there. Be aware, many times there are only a few quantity of each item, so don't go expecting a large beauty section like in a drugstore or big box store.

The biggest disappointment for me is when I find something I might like and it looks like someone has already "tried" the product be it a swatch or actually trying it on themselves! That is unsanitary and completely gross!

On the other hand, I found this little gem which was nicely sealed with no way of someone getting in the box. It is a collection of three salves (balms) from the company Rose & Co. out of the UK. It is a company created by a mother and daughter, Patricia and Caroline Rose. They fancy beauty products and especially find interest in Victorian things. The website is super cute and charming. Their products range from candles and lotions to soap and salves.

I purchased the Beauty Salve Collection which currently retails on their website for 10 pounds. Converted into dollars, that would be approximately $15.40. At Marshall's the price was $4.99 or 3.24 pounds. Each tin was sealed within the box and nicely packaged. This set would make a nice gift by itself or each tin could be a nice stocking stuffer or gift filler!

The first tin was the Rose Petal Salve which was described as an "all-around salves" for dry lips and dry patches of skin! I do have a few dry patches on my elbows, so I'm curious how this would work. The scent is definitely a sweet rose scent. I did not find it overpowering or too sweet.

Cherry Kiss was the second tin with a faint scent of cherries. It is a lip balm with a light cherry color. It applied to my lip smoothly and enhanced the color ever so slightly with a tinge of red. There was no particular taste which was a big plus for me. This would be something I would keep in my purse to use.

The last tin was Strawberry Crush and touted as a glossy lip balm. Immediately I noted a rather overwhelming smell of strawberries when I opened the tin. There seemed to be a slight strawberry taste when wearing this balm. Overall, this was my least favorite because of the smell and taste. It left a nice sheen on my lips but not as glossy as I thought.

For the price, it was a great deal. On the website, individual tins were going for five pounds or about $7.70. This set was adorable but not sure where you could find them unless your local Marshall's has one or two of them. I searched Amazon and found a few items for sale. Overall, this was a gem of a find!
