Beauty Box Subscription: October 2015 Birchbox and (mini) Mini Review

I haven't put up one of these in awhile but wanted to highlight my October 2015 Birchbox! I also made ACES (exclusive Birchbox VIP program), which meant I spent way too much money on their website :) so I am now able to get first dibs on subscription box choices.

This month Birchbox offered several mascaras as one of the sample choices in their regular subscription box. They also offered two guest curated boxes instead of one in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month! These boxes were by the Estee Lauder Companies and filled with products which support breast cancer research. In addition, Birchbox also committed funds which will go toward one year of breast cancer research.

I chose one of the curated boxes because I liked the variety of products it offered and I felt it would fit in with what I was looking for in beauty this month.

The Power Pose box contained five products from the brands Estee Lauder, Clinique, Darphin and Smashbox. I have not tried all of them yet but of the ones I have tried, I really like them!

There were two Clinique products. One was the Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Mega Melon which normally retails for $17 in the full-sized version and the other was the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief which costs $39 for a full-sized container. The Chubby Stick lip balm is by far my favorite items in this month's box. I love how complimentary the color is, and it is just a nice everyday lip product. I will definitely repurchase this once this is gone in the same color!

The Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief is a gel cream which moisturizes the skin without feeling heavy or oily. I have used this sample a couple of times, and I really like it so far.

Other items in the box were the Darphin Stimulskin Plus Multi-Corrective Divine Cream (retail $295 for full-sized - whoa, I did I read that right?), Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II (retail $65 for full-sized) and Smashbox Photo Finished Foundation Primer (retail $36 full-sized).

I have gotten the Smashbox primer in past and have used it several times. I like this primer and it works well under my foundation. The great thing is a little goes a long way, so this sample will last awhile.

The Estee Lauder eye serum is an overnight serum. It is supposed to help with aging around the eyes. I don't have too much of a problem right now with aging around the eyes but it is never to early to start using products to help prevent premature aging. It is a night light serum which absorbs quickly into the skin. I have used this once and liked it but I can't say how it does over a long period yet.

Finally, the Darphin cream is one product I haven't used yet. It is also supposed to help with anti-aging (see a theme here in this box?) by softening lines, firming the skin and brightening the overall face. The sample included was .17 oz and the full size is 1.7 oz at $295! I calculated the sample as being worth $29.50! Crazy but true and not bad for a $10 box!

Overall, I loved the products in this box and also the fact the Breast Cancer Research Foundation was supported by Birchbox.
